IYENGAR® Yoga method

The Iyengar Method: B.K.S. Iyengar, born in 1918, is the author of several works including the celebrated "Yoga Dipika Light on Yoga," which is currently considered to be the most complete book on yoga. Mr. Iyengar founded a yoga institute, in Pune, that he continues to run with his children, Geeta and Prashant. This institute trains students from all over the world from diverse medical, political and artistic backgrounds.

The Iyengar method focuses on an in-depth study of Asana (postures) and Pranayama (control of vital energy), the third and fourth of the eight steps cited by Patanjali, and is characterized by its rigor and intensity.

A combination of supports and materials such as blankets and bricks, allow students of all abilities to benefit from the Iyengar method without compromising the fundamental rules of a good yoga practice.

Instruction takes place through weekly classes and workshops in small groups and is divided among different levels of practice, including: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and classes for children, pregnant women and specific needs.
